Response to the Essays

Essay #1
When our family tells us stories about their past or what is happening right now, it might give us meaning to our lives. We can know what the person went through througout their lives and gives us a guide in our lives to better ourselves. When my mother talks about some stories about what happen in her life such as how my grandmother didnt push my mom to finish things she started. My grandmother didnt support her in the things she wanted to do. So my mom tells me to do whatever that makes me happy and do whatever it takes to better myself in life.

Essay #2
I agree with the reviewer of the L.A. Times. When we are little, we have these dream and desires that we want to become later on in life. Even though Satrapi didnt realize that in some way that she became prophet, with all the things that happen during the war. She still held her head up high and voice her opinion. For example, say if a child wanted to be a doctor when they grow up but when they are an adult they take a whole other route. Whatever their career is, it might deal with helping others from a different country or being a mentor for someone.

Essay #3
What I think the book is trying to say about the different social classes in the Iramian culture is that upper class is more important than the middle and lower class. The government rather have the middle and lower class fight and die in a war than the upper class. It seem like the lower class is worthless and have nothing going on with their life. The lower class have to make the sacrifice their lives for their country and deal with all the dislikes from the upper class. The government makes all these rules that the upper and lower class can not be together at all. It puts in the people minds that it is wrong to marry someone that doesnt have a lot of money or that they dont have the best job.
